The concept behind Faces of Greenport came from the discovery of a 1957 Rolleiflex TLR camera that was gifted to me at the start of 2023. The allure of film photography drew me in, providing the perfect medium to capture the diverse community in and around Greenport, New York. In a time where societal divisions, exacerbated by the impacts of politics and the challenges posed by COVID-19, left me unsettled, I tasked myself with stepping out of my introverted comfort zone and engaging with the vibrant individuals who contribute to the fabric of this quirky seaside village. Despite the initial difficulty of interacting with strangers, the project became a therapeutic endeavor for my mental well-being. As the scope expanded, I not only captured remarkable portraits but also formed connections with lots of wonderful people. This experience has deepened my appreciation for the intricacies of society, showcasing the resilience, diversity, and warmth that exist within it. "Faces of Greenport" evolved into more than just a photographic inventory; it became a celebration of the unique and varied personalities that collectively define this special corner of the world.
As this project continues to grow, I hope you follow along on Instagram.
